突撃戦車 - Change The Future 7"

突撃戦車 (or Totsugeki Sensya if you're gaijin) is a Raw D-Beat band from Gunma, Japan formed in the mid-90's.

I first became aware of them after hearing a track from their Chain Of Tragedy EP which I found on a blog around that time. Because that was the only EP of theirs I was aware of, I thought they only had one EP. I found this 7" at the Notting Hill record exchange, which I remember thanks to keeping the sticker on the plastic shealth which someone lovingly wrote the correct kanji on.
I'm glad I kept that, otherwise I would have mixed this up with finding a copy of Slang's Sapporo City Hardcore 7" in a shop in Tilburg one year when Roadburn happened to coincide with Record Store Day. I didn't realise that this was a different EP until after roughly ten years of having it in my collection when I finally noticed that this had different artwork and song titles to the one that I had downloaded.

Scarecrow - Sjätte Massutdöendet Når Norden! tape

D-Beat Raw Punx from Raleigh, North Carolina.  The three songs on side A will appear on a future release, side B are all cover songs.  Given how squeamish Bandcamp has been about allowing bands to put out cover songs since being taken over by Boomkat, I doubt that there will be a proper digital release for this.

Human Junk - Demo tape

I had a rip of this I got off another blog from years ago but it was really quiet and tinny sound so I made my own.  Human Junk was a Powerviolence band from Broadstairs, Kent in the style of Hellnation featuring Sam Richardson who ran Keep Screaming Records and previously played drums in Ripped To Shreds as well as drums and co-vocals with Luke Overin (who would go onto front Never Again) in Face Of Death.  I used to go see Human Junk loads, especially in the practice space run by the guitarist and drummer from Harrowed when they were still based in Cliftonville near Margate.  After Human Junk ended Sam went onto do Wedding, Post-Hardcore with Chris from Kind Eyes, the short lived Indiemo Pax Indigo and a couple of low-fi Indie bands, also with Chris The Silvery Moon and Help Yourself.

Fucked Up - Huge New Her 7"

Toronto's Fucked Up continuing the "Hardcore Punk that's also palatable to Indie Rock fans" subgenre.

Crucifix - Nineteen Eighty-Four 7"

Crucifix were an Anarcho Punk band from Berkeley, California.  They hold the distinction of being the only US band to release a LP on Crass' Corpus Christi label.  There's a fun story were they made a pilgrimage to England to camp on the lawn of the Crass communal house outside of London.  Source for this rip is the 2018 Kustomized Records reissue.

Fabric - Dislocations 7"

90's London Straight Edge Post-Hardcore band formed with members of early UK Straight Edge Hardcore band Long Cold Stare.  Members would go on to break Edge and form bands such as Orange Goblin, The Dukes Of Nothing, Capricorns, Alabaster Suns & 33.  Bass player Tony Sylvester later became the singer in Turbonegro when Hank Von Hell left the band.

Freeze - Bitter Cold tape

New Metallic Hardcore from Maidstone, Kent.  Released by Moral Quandary, physical copies completely sold out (you can still buy neon prints of the artwork if you need that in your life).  Band doesn't have a Bandcamp at present (if that changes in the future I'll swap out my rip) but this is available to stream on Spotify.

Thou - They Don't Love You Like I Love You 12"

I've loved Thou since I discovered them on the now sadly deceased Stonerrock.com's MP3 Jukebox, but even I have to admit they're becoming the Sludge version of The Dirtbombs with the sheer amount of covers that they do.  This is an EP they have been selling on tour recently with covers that have been donated to compilation albums over the last few years.

As a bonus here's a 10" of acoustic demos for songs that wound up on the Rhea Sylvia EP/mini LP that I picked up at the same time.

Constant State Of Terror ‎– Speak Truth To Power LP

Brighton's Crust stalwarts came out of hiatus right before the pandemic started to put out a debut LP and I didn't find out about it until I read their chapter in Ian Glasper's new book.  There are details of how to order the LP direct from the band look in the comments in this FB post or there are several distros carrying the record in mainland Europe you can find on Discogs.
